[one_half padding=”0 15px 0 0″]We are just 3 official days into New York Fashion Week and in you’re not into keeping up with the shows, I’ve got the rundown and all the Tea of the happenings surrounding fashion week. Bloggers, influencers, editors, and socialites oh my are out on the streets of New York City in full Fall looks. Which didn’t bode so well since is was damn near 100 degrees on Thursday alone. Look, I’m all for getting ready for Fall but let’s keep it 100, like mother nature did, it’s hot AF. You can still rock your summer looks people. Why do you have on a sweater in 95 degree weather? Unless the point is to sweat. The most talked about shows so far have been Mara Hoffman, Christopher John Rogers and Chromat. I love a good colorful Mara Hoffman piece. She really has interesting structured pieces and the perfect silk dress on lock.[/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 15px”]Her team did an amazing job casting with a diverse array of models in all shapes and sizes. The Christopher John Rogers presentation blew me TF away. Christopher is uber talented and I literally want everything from his Spring/ Summer 2019 collection from this entire look, to this gorgeous statement piece. Mark my words, he’s glowing up and this time next year I’m sure he will be a strong staple amongst young designers out of New York. All the cool kids where at Chromat. I’m including this show specifically because my boo Ericka Hart, who has an amazing podcast with her partner Ebony, WALKED this show. Also my blogger boo Mama Caxx also strutted down the runway and is on the cover of Teen Vogue! Bravo Chromat who always brings the A1 Inclusive casting! Ugh, a serious fashion moment.[/one_half_last]
[one_half padding=”0 15px 0 0″]Oh yeah, who knew Offset had the juice, walking in the Jeremy Scott fashion show? Nothing revolutionary but it was pretty cool. Colin Kaepernick has become the face of Nike and that has become a major topic of every fashion conversation. It’s also ignited a firestorm of memes from notable folks in the black community with my favorite being New York from Flavor of Love. Then there’s the tea, from one of my favorite Instagram accounts Diet_Prada, putting one of New York Fashion Week’s darling’s Leandra Medine of Man Repeller on blast for essentially copying a shoe from the brand Area for her own collection. The comments on the post alone are enough to keep you well entertained for at least an hour. Yes…this is also another topic people are speaking about in hushed whispers in the corners of fashion events. Should you find yourself well dressed in Soho you might be stopped by the team at New Balance who are scouting Fashion Week Street Style via video.[/one_half][one_half_last padding=”0 0 0 15px”]They also ask you to sign your life away before gifting you a fancy pair of sneakers. Yes, I got a pair. I love this town. Speaking of sneakers, Harlem’s Fashion Row also made history when they partnered with Lebron James and Nike. Three black female designers who showed at the Harlem Fashion Row Show: Fe Noel, Undra Celeste and Kimberly Goldson all worked together to help design the Lebron James 16 sneakers which sold out in 5 minutes flat. #BlackGirlMagic is alive, well and thriving this month. From the covers of major magazines (here’s a link to buy every copy), to the runways and our television screens, what a time to be a Black Woman. Céline dropped that accent aigu and fashion folks lost their shit. I’m actually kinda sad I’ll never own anything with the little symbol. It’s waaaaaay cooler that just regular smegular Celine. I predict that everything with that accent will now sky rocket on sites like eBay and The Real Real. [/one_half_last]

The most major party award goes to the Shopbop #StyleHigh Diner Party. Everybody was there, and I mean everybody. In the first three minutes I saw Lindsay Peoples who wrote this amazing article about being a black woman in the fashion industry as well as Danielle Prescod who’s instatories keep me thoroughly entertained and who’s article on Dapper Dan had me in all the feels. Nikki Ogunnaike and I made plans to hang out in Paris. I bumped into someone and when I turned to apologize discovered it was Rebecca Minkoff. I finally met one of my favorite influencers, Farah Pink who I’m obsessed with. Seriously go follow her right now. She’s the epitome of beauty, passion and graciousness. I stuffed my face with ice-cream (which I will pay for in pimples in a few days I’m sure), mini burgers, milkshakes and copious glasses of prosecco while dancing the night away to all the chunes provided by none other than Vashtie. But wait…the Harpers Bazaar Icon party just got interesting with an alleged scuffle between Cardi B. & Nicki Minaj. That’s probably the most interesting thing that could happen at the star studded bash.
Whew chile…it’s been a grand few days. I’ve seen more Zimmermann dresses, Gucci bags and smelled more Le Labo Santal 33 perfume than I have all year in just 1 day but it’s been a hell of a ride.
Follow along on Ebony Magazines Instastories tomorrow as I do an Instagram Takeover! It’s gonna be a good time.
