I have a little secret. I’ve lived in New York for 12 years and I’ve only been to Central Park a hand full of times. I know, I’m basically a New Yorker. One of those New Yorkers who has never been up the Empire State Building or ran a half marathon or been to Staten Island. LOL. Anywho, what I do know is where to take a good Holiday Photo in New York City. Fortunately, I spend a great deal of time scouting locations for photo shoots for this here blog and for the collaborations I partner with brands on. I add places to my rolodex weekly when riding by or when scrolling past on Instagram. I actually have an entire saved file of places that I want to shoot in the future. It’s an excellent way to add a little something different to the mix. Well, the holidays are here and everyone, bloggers and non-bloggers alike in New York City all want that perfect holiday shot. Whether it’s for the family Christmas Card, the yearly Hanukkah letter, for a handmade gift for Kwanzaa or just to show off for New Years. Everyone on Facebook and Instagram are tasked with spreading holiday cheer. So get dressed in your holiday bests (here are a few New Years Eve Dresses under $100) and your dainty necklaces and statement jewels and ring in the Holidays with the perfect photo.
Central Park
If you scroll on Instagram more that 10 photos you are bound to come across more than a few photos in Central Park in New York City. The top 2 places in the park have to be this beautiful bridge known as Bow Bridge and the stunning Bethesda Terrace. The Bow Bridge is uber charming and works well in every season. It’s especially magical when it snows. Not too far away is another favorite, Bethesda Terrace and Fountain which is equally stunning. The Minton tile ceilings of the Terrace are like glittering gold gorgeousness. Here’s a tip — Go super early before 8am for the best shots and to beat the numerous walking tours, runners and dog walkers. Bethesda Terrace also has a very spacious bathroom for changing outfits in as well.
The Brooklyn Bridge from another Angle
No, I’m not talking about that cliché over done photo on the actual bridge, right in the center at dawn. I mean that’s cool but who hasn’t done that photo a hundred million times? There’s a new angle of the Brooklyn Bridge in town and it’s down on Front Street in Dumbo. From this angle the Brooklyn bridge is the background on the right side in all of it’s glory. Just use Sugarcane Raw Bar and Grill for reference for the perfect shot. On the plus side you can pretty much get away with getting a good shot any time. No more waking a dawn and being nearly mowed down by bikers to get an actual good shot on the bridge itself.

50 Bowery Hotel Rooftop Bar, The Crown
I had an event here one summer when the hotel first opened and it was so awesome. The stunning views from the hotel rooftop are unparalleled. On a crisp day you can see all the way to the Empire State Building, One World Trade and the Brooklyn Bridge! You won’t find a better backdrop for the perfect holiday or New Years photo. It’s even better at night too with all the lights twinkling.
230 Fifth Avenue
Speaking of rooftops, every Winter, 230 Fifth pulls out all the stops with their showstopping rooftop Igloos. What better way to have a drink outdoors in the dead of winter and get the coolest Holiday photo! Not to mention the 360 degree views.
The Prospect Park Boat House
This is one of my favorite places in the city. The Boat House is so quiet and serene, especially at dusk when the lamps come on a cast a warm glow over the steps. Of course this is a hot spot amongst those taking engagement photos so the earlier you get there the better. Luckily, this place doesn’t get very heavy foot traffic and even less so in the cold winter months. You could have the entire place to yourself to make a little magic. Just bundle up.
What are some of your favorite places around the city to take photos? I’d love to add a few to my list.

With a back drop and outfit like that, you need lots of cold and beautiful jewelry complimenting it (;
