Wardrobe Simplicity

I’m a little dramatic personality wise. I always love over the top fashion like this Stella Jean skirt or this ruffled top. But sometimes simplicity is alluring to me. I saw this Tibi dress months ago on Elaine Welteroth, Editor and Chief of Teen Vogue. I knew after that, that I had to have this dress. It’s stunning in person really, the photos don’t do the exquisite tailoring justice. It feels silky smooth on my skin. I wanted it specifically to wear in the desert. Don’t ask me why, when I see a piece and I really want it, I know exactly where and how I want to style it and wear it. But it’s more than that with this dress. I could see myself wearing this to be married, wearing it to a summer nights dinner or a stroll barefoot on the beach. This dress, the simplicity of it, will probably work in my wardrobe for the rest of my life. That’s the beauty of an investment piece and it doesn’t hurt that I got it on sale!

This dress has spurred a sudden interest in very chic yet simplistic pieces in my wardrobe as basics to work around my statement pieces. Every woman needs a little white, or in this case, off white dress for vacations. This one that I scored during a sale at ASOS years back has become my staple vacation dress. I have been shopping for my next vacation already which will hopefully be somewhere fun and exotic where I can do nothing but relax and take in the sights. I’ll be buying lots of light weight, long sleeved knits for this vacation too. I’ve already grabbed this dress from Revolve. Can you guess where I’ll be going next?

But back to simplicity. I’m very much into muted colors. Still color, but toned down color from whites to neutrals. For some reason I’m very drawn to muted reds and yellows at the moment. I plan on using the rest of the summer to fill out my wardrobe with more wearable simple pieces. Pieces that can hang dry, that are heavy enough not to wrinkle in transit and that I can easily slip right into. But any who, I’m glad I finally got to see this dress the way I envisioned it. It the desert in California in a junk yard of old trucks.
